Slides 45-56. Messaging taking over. 6+ of most popular apps by sessions are messaging apps. Now we see why Facebook split Messenger out as a separate app. She shows how WeChat, if continues to play out globally, will change messengers into central communications hubs. Also keyed in on something we've talked about on Gillmor Gang for more than a year: notifications are growing rapidly and are increasingly interactive. She predicts that Messaging and Notifications are key layers of every meaningful mobile app. Hey, I see "context" mentioned here several times. Wonder if she read our book, "Age of Context?" This is why messaging apps want to know your location and other context. It's important to adding new features. Slides 57-65. Content is increasingly user generated, curated, and surprising, she writes.
