When a radio transmits a signal, a range of frequencies is used to carry information. This range may be continuous or dis-contiguous ("spread spectrum"). There is usually a single frequency that is used to "name" the tranmission frequency, although this naming depends on the mode used. (See RadioOperationMode). The standard method of expression is "Herz" (or a multiple). Sometimes, surprisingly, the "frequency" is expressed in terms of length (actually wavelength, often in meters). This is merely an colloquial and equivalent expresssion, since freq(Herz) = the-speed-of-light / wavelength.
