NoSQL Now! Conference
in San Jose.
The panel will feature Jason Lucas of Tagged, Bradley Allen of Elsevier Labs and Ian Davis of Talis.
Please register for a
free expo pass and write "SemWeb" where it asks "How did you Hear" this is to help the conference organizers and location know how many people to expect. If you make it before 7:00 you can meet with exhibitors and grab some food and drink.
Jason Lucas -
is the scalability architect for Tagged, one of the largest social networking system in the world. Jason previously worked for Google on large-scale, distributed systems and for Microsoft on the Visual C++ compiler. He also spent almost ten years working on artificial intelligence systems for treating HIV/AIDS in Africa. These days Jason focuses on problems in the NoSQL space, creating planetary-scale data services that are reliable, fast, cheap, and, if at all possible, easy to use.
Bradley Allen
- is Vice President, Elsevier Labs at Elsevier, the world's leading publisher of scientific and medical content. Mr. Allen began his career as a member of the research staff at Carnegie-Mellon's Robotics Institute. As a senior member of the technical team at Inference Corporation he created CBR Express, one of the first and most successful applications of case-based reasoning for customer support. He was founder and CTO at Limbex Corporation, where he created WebCompass, an Internet search assistant that won Best Of Show at COMDEX Fall '95. Limbex was acquired Quarterdeck Corporation (now Symantec) in 1996. He was also founder of TriVida Corporation, a Web site personalization application services provider, serving as CTO until TriVida's acquisition by Be Free, Inc. (now Valueclick) in 2000; founder and CTO of Siderean Software, a vendor of Semantic Web solutions for information access and discovery; and a director of development at Symantec Corporation, where he managed a team that delivered the Quorum reputation-based security technology as part of the 2010 Norton security product suite. Mr. Allen earned a BS in applied mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1982, and has been awarded five U.S. patents.
Ian Davis -
Chief Technology Officer of
Talis, leading the company's
platform strategy. His primary area of interest is around open data and the Semantic Web, with more emphasis on the Web and its network effects than on semantics. He advocates the use of Web standards including HTTP, URIs and RDF to build scalable distributed applications and prefers to use agile development practices especially test-first design. He has founded three technology startups and raised venture capital in the areas of large scale search, syndication and semantic web architectures. In 2000 he was co-author of the
RSS 1.0 specification and has contributed to many RDF-related developments including vocabularies, frameworks, specifications and standards. In 2002 he created the popular
FOAF icons. In 2006 he authored the Talis Community License and led the work to fund and create the
Open Data Commons.
